About us
Island Trails started out of a desire to do better. Do better for our planet and community, but also to participate in something bigger. Through providing education on our rad Island adventures, or in the classroom entertaining young mind with ideas of interconnectivity and care for the natural world, we hope to inspire and leave you with a sense of awe and connection to our wild spaces.
Imagine every step taking you deeper into the interconnected beauty of our Coastal Rainforest Ecosystem. Moving from the impressive canopy of the old growth forest to the vibrant Pacific Ocean, we’ll make sure nothing gets missed for you to make the trip of a lifetime and leave in awe of our natural wonders!
Land acknowledgment
We want to acknowledge and honour the places we operate in, and it’s history before sharing them with you. We are fortunate to be able to work, live and play on the traditional and unceeded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, Malahat, Pacheedaht, Scia’new, T’Sou-ke, W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum) peoples, the K’ómoks First Nation, including Sathloot, Sasitla, leeksun, Puledge, Cha’chae, and Tat’poos Peoples, Snuneymuxw, Snaw-naw-as, Quw’utsun, and Tla’amin First Nations. The first people have been looking after their lands for centuries before colonization and hopefully we can help them to continue this by supporting them and contribute to our common future in this special place we are fortunate to call home.
